Cal Fire on Saturday issued an evacuation warning for parts of the Santa Clara and Alameda counties, including Fremont.
The warning comes as high winds are expected early Sunday morning, increasing the risk of the SCU lightning complex fire spreading deeper into more populated Bay Area communities. The warning means residents must be ready to leave their homes, and a possible evacuation request is forthcoming.
The warning covers parts of Fremont east of Mission Blvd. and Mission Rd. intersection south to the intersection of Mission Blvd and Curtner Rd, and east to Curtner Rd. south along I-680 to the Santa Clara County line, according to Fremont police. Click here for the full map.
The warnings go up, but do not include the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton, Cal Fire announced Saturday night.
The National Water Service has also issued a red flag warning from 5 a.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. Monday for the entire Bay Area, with high winds and more dry thunderstorms expected.
