Chinese smartphone company ZTE has launched the first Android smartphone with a selfie camera under its screen.

The ZTE Axon 20 5G, which has no price or release date, does not have a notch or cutout for the front camera like many others.

The phone is only available in China and as such it remains to be seen how well the camera will perform with a display in its path.

In order to guarantee its good enough performance to justify the 32MP camera shake, ZTE’s latest smartphone has some other cool tricks.

A high-transparency material apparently improves the light input to the front camera, while an “independent dual control chip and integrated driver circuits” are used to ensure that the colors between the camera and the screen are properly synchronized.

ZTE has also used a “single driver circuit design” to avoid interference and shocks to the front camera, and a “special matrix” to optimize pixels and improve screen consistency, the company claims.

It also says it has “optimized the camera’s performance in various lighting conditions.”

Apart from the front camera, the speakers and also the fingerprint scanner have been moved under the screen.

In addition to its main feature, the Axon 20 has a 6.92-inch OLED screen, while on the rear there is a four-camera setup: a 64MP main lens, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a macro and camera. depth, each with a 2MP camera. resolution.

It comes in two configurations: one with 6GB of Ram and 128GB of storage, and one with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Currently, the phone is only available for pre-order in China; It is not yet known if the phone will be launched internationally. The independent has contacted ZTE for more information.

ZTE could have beaten other manufacturers with its smartphone, but it is not the only one planning to hide the front camera under the screen.

Xiaomi has also said that it will launch a phone with similar technologies next year.
