The former African champions are using the matches to prepare for Botswana in the November Afcon playoffs and the upcoming Chan tournament.
Zambia’s head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named a 23-man team expected to face Ethiopia and South Sudan in friendlies.
After taking on Malawi, Kenya, South Africa and the Orlando Pirates during the FIFA break, Chipolopolo has again announced plans to face the two Cecafa nations.
Micho has retained a large number of players who participated in the aforementioned friendlies as they named a team that is made up purely of local stars.
Nkwazi goalkeeper Charles Muntanga, Zanaco defender Kebson Kamanga, Luka Ng’uni and Paul Katena are among the players called up for the upcoming tasks.
“The team enters the camp on Tuesday 20 October and will take off to Ethiopia the next day in preparation for the game against the national team of that country on Thursday,” the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) announced on Sunday.
“Zambia’s second game will be against South Sudan on Saturday before facing Ethiopia again on Sunday. The local assembly will conclude Addis Ababa’s commitment to another party against South Sudan on Monday, October 26. “
Zambia is trying to prepare its players for the consecutive African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Botswana in November, as well as for the African Championship of Nations (Chan) tournament to be played in Cameroon in January 2021 .
“Micho has written an intense program for the local players that will see them flow into the Botswana match on November 12 at the National Heroes Stadium in match conditions,” the federation added.
Before playing the last three games, the headlines revolved around Obrey Chirwa of Azam FC and Clatous Chama of Simba SC, who were called up but ended up not showing up. Kabaso Chongo was also suspended after captaining the team against Harambee Stars on October 9.
