YouTube Music announced its latest smart TV integration on Monday: Listeners can now access saved playlists and songs they liked through the YouTube TV app, which also highlights album and playlist artwork.
“Wherever our YouTube Music users go, we want to be there with them,” according to an announcement on the company’s blog. “Whether you’re taking a long car trip or relaxing at home, YouTube Music has the perfect soundtrack to discover and listen to your favorite music.”
Launched in 2015 and ready to take the throne as Google’s sole song streaming service, YouTube Music is now available on various platforms, from smart displays and Google Maps to Google Home and Nest speakers. But there is always room to grow.

“Since the launch of YouTube Music on the YouTube app on televisions last July, we have been enthusiastically listening to your feedback and continue to work hard to provide the best possible experience,” said the team, teasing additional features for those using the Android operating system. TV (including the new Chromecast with Google TV).
Look for the ability to upload songs to YouTube Music library from your computer and access information like song and artist name, as well as a progress bar while tunes are playing. And, on devices with the Android TV home screen, consumers will see a new row of YT Music for easy access to audio.
“These new features are just the beginning,” the blog boasted. “We are working hard to bring even more features to YouTube Music,” such as the mobile-optimized option to continue playing music in the background after exiting the app. Devices running the Android TV operating system will automatically update from Google Play Music to YouTube Music; everyone else can download the app now.
