YouTube Gaming reaches 100,000 million viewing hours and leads Minecraft

YouTube Gaming has revealed that 2020 has been the biggest year in its history, with 100 billion hours of viewing time, double the hours viewed in 2018, and more than 40 million active gaming channels.

Of those 100 billion hours of watch time, 10 billion were from YouTube Gaming live streams, indicating stiff competition for Amazon-owned Twitch.

The Google-owned platform said that of 40 million active gaming channels, 80,000 channels reached 100,000 subscribers last year.

More than 1,000 channels surpassed 5 million subscribers in 2020, while more than 350 channels reached 10 million subscribers.

Minecraft was the most watched game on all of YouTube, with over 200 billion views of live streams and videos uploaded this year.

The next most watched game on the platform was Roblox with 75 billion views.
