Xiaomi is often the first company to launch phones with new Qualcomm Snapdragon processors (even if it’s only for a week or two), and the new Snapdragon 888 will be no exception.
The company announced on Weibo (via Android Central) that it will launch its new flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 11, on December 28 at an event in China. Xiaomi will probably also launch a more powerful version of the phone, dubbed the Mi 11 Pro, at the same event.
These two phones have the distinction of being powered by the most powerful Qualcomm chip of all time, the Snapdragon 888. We will probably see the same chip in some variants of Samsung’s next flagship phone, the Galaxy S21, which will likely launch in January.
The company did not reveal many more details about these phones, other than saying that they will bring “many incredible advances”.
Rumor has it that the Mi 11 will have a QHD + AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel main camera, 50W fast charging, and a 4,780mAh battery. The Mi 11 Pro will probably have the same display and charging speed, but it will have a slightly larger 4,970 mAh battery, as well as a 108-megapixel main camera.
Xiaomi hasn’t announced a date for the global launch of these two phones, but it will likely happen in January.
