(Pocket-lint): If you’ve decided to move this new generation of consoles to Xbox, but haven’t bought the Xbox Series X or S yet, you might have a hard time finding one. An Xbox executive has said that stocks could be tight until April next year.
The company is afterwards celebrating what it claims to be its biggest console launch to date. However, that means it is now much more difficult to buy a next-gen Xbox in time for Christmas.
Its CFO Tim Stuart was invited to the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment virtual conference, where he explained that it is unlikely that we will see many more new consoles on the shelves until the second quarter of 2021: “I think we will continue to see supply shortages. A as we move into the post-holiday quarter, so Microsoft’s third quarter, the first calendar quarter, “he said.
However, Xbox will ramp up production at that time, in light of high consumer demand, to hit “full throttle going into … the months leading up to summer.”
Xbox Series X and Series S went on sale globally on November 10, beating their biggest rival, the PlayStation 5, by a couple of days (in the US, nine days in the UK).
Many retailers reported that they were sold out within minutes of going on sale.
