Thanks to iOS 14, iPhone owners have gotten a lot more creative.
In case you haven’t noticed, multiple users have taken to social media to share their iOS “aesthetic,” highlighting custom themes and app icons on their home screens.
Themes range from following the same color pattern to a fall or Halloween theme, according to various posts shared on Twitter and Instagram. Some are also inspired by pop culture favorites like Star Wars or Disney.
The release of iOS 14 last week introduced several features that open the door for this type of customization. Apple expanded the widgets to add depth and style to its display based on the information that matters most to you.
Of course, if you have an Android phone, this is nothing new. Features that allow users to customize their home screens have been on the Android platform for a while.

So how can you customize the screen of your own iPhone? Most of the work is done through two apps: Shortcuts and Widgetsmith. Twitter user @Kaylasfro has a detailed breakdown on how to customize your home screen.
In Shortcuts, users “add an action” and then search for “open application.” Users then add it to their home screen, then personalize with the name and an image of their camera roll.
Users can create custom widgets in the Widgetsmith application for calendar, clock, photos, and other applications.
