White House adviser Jared Kushner will travel to Israel and Morocco next week. His visit comes immediately after the two countries agreed to establish relations.
Kushner, who is also the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, will arrive in Israel on Monday and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The next day, he will fly through Israel’s El Al from Tel Aviv to Rabat with an American and Israeli delegation, Reuters reported.
Trump announced last week that Israel and Morocco would formally establish full relations. The United States also recognized Morocco’s sovereignty claims in disputed Western Sahara at the time.
Morocco followed the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan in agreeing to recognize the Jewish state. The Trump administration negotiated the deals. The administration has continued to pursue normalization agreements between Israel and the Middle Eastern and North African states following Trump’s defeat to Joe Biden in the US presidential election.
Kushner will be joined by US special representative for international negotiations, Avi Berkowitz, and the director of the US International Development Finance Corporation, Adam Boehler, according to Reuters. Berkowitz and Boehler also joined Kushner on his trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar this month.
Israel signed a variety of economic agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain after normalization. Israel and Morocco could soon do the same with Kushner’s visit.
