WhatsApp has released a new update to its storage management functionality, which provides an improved overview of how space is used in the application and what you can remove to make more space.
The process is a significant improvement over the current screen, which shows how much space each chat takes up. You can then tap on each one to find out how many mMessages, pictures, videos, and GIFs are included in each discussion, and delete them to free up space.
The new list provides a better overview of content that is taking up space and includes thumbnails and data lists to help you eliminate what you don’t need.
The tool also groups the listings into categories. As you can see from the example above, there are now listings for “Forwarded many times”, making content that was not created for you personally and “Larger than 5MB”, easier to find the biggest culprits.
That will give WhatsApp users more ways to free up space in the app, while also interesting to consider within the broader context of Facebook’s arrival. Option for companies on WhatsApp to manage their messages through Facebook’s hosting services.
