Call of Duty: War Zone is one of the most popular Call of Duty titles of all time. The free look and addictive gameplay are just a few of the reasons it has exploded since March. While it’s not a big deal when it comes to a general game, there are subtle annoyances when it comes to games that are based on different engines. For example, graphics, movement, and weapon play are some of the key elements that are changed with different engines.

Black Ops Cold War, developed by Treyarch, will use elements of the engine that Infinity Ward used to Modern war. However, the game itself is a different experience, with subtleties of movement, more cartoony graphics, etc.
So with War zone moving to the Black Ops Cold War universe, many fans were wondering if there would be an engine change. After all, the actual battle is changing along with the weapons, items, and other items being added that are Cold War specific. While some thought the engine would change as well, an Activision employee confirmed that is not happening.
Activision’s Art Lead stated that “there will be no engine swap for WZ [Warzone]. “What exactly does it mean? The game in War zone is extremely different from Cold War, which means that switching from one side to the other will not be too easy.
You will have to learn two different styles of play, as the two games use different movement and weapon handling techniques. While that’s not to say it can’t be done, going back and forth between the two titles could be challenging at first with each game on a different engine.
