Call of Duty: Warzone will continue with its existing engine for the upcoming Black Ops Cold War integration, an Activision employee said.

In a post on ResetEra, a user named ShutterMunster, who is verified on the site as an Activision Art Leader, chimed in to say “there will be no engine change for Warzone.” Eurogamer has asked Activision for comment.

There has been speculation as to whether Warzone would switch to the engine that powers Black Ops Cold War after Activision confirmed that Cold War’s integration with Warzone begins in December 2020.

Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War has a different look and feel compared to Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare, with its own mechanics, animations, weapon balancing, time to kill, and soldier movement.

It remains to be seen how much Black Ops Cold War will feel in Warzone, but we know that all of the new Black Ops Cold War weapons and operators you unlock will be playable in both Black Ops (unsurprisingly) and Warzone. Black Ops Battle Pass content, as well as new content from the Black Ops Store, will also work on Black Ops and Warzone.

Modern Warfare players can also continue to use their Modern Warfare content in Warzone when Black Ops is released. Players can choose their Black Ops equipment or their Modern Warfare equipment for Warzone, Activision has said.

Infinity Ward and Raven Software’s free download battle royale is currently balanced for Modern Warfare uploads, so it will be interesting to see how the game is affected by including Black Ops Cold War uploads into the mix.
