Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 is officially here. Season 1 includes a new map, new weapons, and many exciting new features.
Call of Duty: War Zone Season 1 was just released on December 16, 2020 and players are already diving into the new Battle Pass along with all the other new features. Yes, just like all other previous “seasons” of War zone there is a battle pass. The game wouldn’t be complete without the usual 100-level Battle Pass. Throughout the course of the Battle Pass, you will earn rewards as before. There will be new vehicle skins, operatives, operative skins, clocks, XP upgrades, weapon skins, and much more. There is really nothing out of the ordinary here except the fact that there are new items to unlock for your game.
Perhaps most of the new season is the addition of an entirely new map called Rebirth Island. Rebirth Island is Call of Duty: Warzone’s first new map to be added to the game. Rebirth Island is a smaller version of the traditional War zone Experience from the Verdansk map. This new map allows only 40 players to join and acts in a similar way to a mini Battle Royale style game mode.
The new mode in which you can experience this new map is called Rebirth Island: Resurgence. The interesting thing about Rebirth Island: Resurgence is that there is no Gulag available in this game mode. On the other hand, if they kill you, you will have to wait 30 seconds before you can appear again. There are unlimited respawns until you reach the final circle or until the game officially ends.
Another cool aspect of this new mode is that when you land a kill, it will make it very clear where the other teammates you killed are. This makes hiding very difficult and tougher.
If you still plan to play the original Battle Royale game mode, Call of Duty: War Zone has to offer that is still available to you, but with a little twist. The Gulag is not the same Gulag that everyone knew or loved (maybe not everyone did). Instead, the new Gulag places you in the center of Nuketown with both houses entrenched to prevent you from entering them or the backyard. This puts the main focus of the battle in the center of the map. It’s an interesting twist and it’s a nice little feature that was added to the game. After all, the current Gulag was getting a bit old and boring. While I hope the old Gulag will return at some point, this is a small change of pace.
Some other things added for season one are 31 weapons of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, 3 new agents, an attack helicopter, and tons of challenges for you to try and complete. There were also some patch notes that fixed some common bugs to accompany the updates. As you can see, season 1 has already started with a bang. There will be plenty for everyone to do and tons of secrets to discover and explore. If you haven’t had a chance to play this new update, launch the console or PC you’re playing on and get ready to dive right into Warzone!
