(Pocket-lint) – Call of Duty: Warzone is here to stay, that’s for sure. The free Battle Royale mode has brought millions of players to its massive one-map playing field, Verdansk, and has kept them for six seasons (so far) of new content and map adjustments.
However, as with any battle royale, there is nothing like a completely new map to revitalize the interest of not only the players who might have fallen, but also anyone who is still playing it, a little tired of the same environment an and again.
We’ve known for a while that the launch of Call of Duty: Blacks Ops Cold War won’t interrupt the Warzone flow; it seems that both will continue in a related but a bit distant way.
However, the launch of a new game is the perfect opportunity for Warzone to get a significant update, with the expectation that more weapons and operators will join the fight for players to use. Apparently, that will also be augmented by an entirely new winter map.
Data-miners have found some video files in the latest round of the Black Ops Cold War beta, and they have file names that make it sound like new map areas are arriving for Warzone, mostly with related topics. with Russian places. The inclusion of a “ski slopes” area makes it look like you can expect snowy weather, even more so than the higher areas on the Verdansk map.
The names are Duga, Forest, Russia, and Ski Slopes, each of which comprises a multiplayer map that will likely make up a part of the larger Warzone map, just as was the case in the current inflected version of Modern Warfare.
If a new map is coming up, it will be a relief for veteran players, and it will also reject the trend of Battle Royale games going to the desert for their second maps, albeit given the number of multiplayer maps Infinity Ward has to use. that area, we would not rule it out in the long run.
