Members of the diplomatic community, consular generals and ambassadors sitting in Ethiopia have wished for peace, love and prosperity for Ethiopia in the New Year.
Ambassadors from Addis Ababa, home to many international organizations and diplomats, delivered a message on the Ethiopian New Year. In their message, they said that Ethiopia can further strengthen bilateral relations with other countries in the New Year, in the fight against COVID-19, in particular.
Among the ambassadors Walta interviewed, China’s Ambassador to the African Union, Liu Yushi, wished all Ethiopians a Happy New Year. In addition, Africa and China will continue to strengthen their cooperation in the new Ethiopian New Year in fighting COVID-19 and other ties, she added.
“I wish the new year to be a year of prosperity, peace and unity for Ethiopians and the countries of East Africa,” said South Sudan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia James Pitia Morgan.
The ambassador thanks the Ethiopian government and the Ministry of Health for their unreserved contribution to South Sudan in guiding COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
Li Yu, Counselor for Economic and Trade Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, said that she feels Ethiopia is her second country and wished Ethiopians a happy New Year; mentioning that he celebrated the Ethiopian New Year five times.
Moa Lagercrantz, Chief Minister Counselor of the Political Section of the Swedish Embassy in Ethiopia, said Ethiopia and Sweden will work together in the fight against COVID-19 and will continue to strengthen their historic cooperation dating back to 1866.
Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia Yaprak Alp also noted that Turkey and Ethiopia have strong investment and policy cooperation, adding that 200 Turkish companies are operating in every corner of Ethiopia.
Ambassador Yaprak Alp further noted that Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed by phone to strengthen the countries’ cooperation for a higher chapter during this difficult time.
It is recalled that on September 8, on the ‘Ambassador’s Day’ under the slogan “I am also the Ambassador of My City” Ambassador and Diplomats took charge of the seedlings that they had planted in the Green Legacy Campaign.
Ethiopia has colorfully celebrated its New Year 2013 last Friday.
