US Election Results Live: The Latest and Updates from Biden-Trump as the Presidential Race Continues

Joe Biden is only a short distance from victory over Donald Trump in the US elections, having switched key states of Michigan and Wisconsin and retained the lead in Arizona.

The Democratic challenge is also rapidly gaining traction over the president in Georgia and Pennsylvania, where officials have said they could declare an outcome Thursday. Biden’s victory in either state would propel him to the White House.

Several of Trump’s supporters have started protesting in front of the vote counting facilities in Phoenix, some of them armed, after the sitting president made unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud in the hours after polls closed. In Detroit, they demanded that the count be stopped.

Trump has taken legal action in an attempt to prevent legitimate vote counting in the battlefield states, but judges in Georgia and Pennsylvania on Thursday dismissed lawsuits aimed at stopping the vote counting.

Pelosi faces colleagues at post-election caucus call after Democratic majority in House was reduced

Nancy Pelosi, under pressure, today faces her Democratic colleagues for the first time after Tuesday’s elections, when the party saw its majority in the House reduced.

House Democrats are slated to meet for a caucus as the party conducts an autopsy of a disappointing election for its House of Congress candidates.

President Pelosi has come under fire after the party saw its lead in the House shrink rather than widen, as Democrats had hoped.

Nevada count may not complete for a week

Officials in Clark County in Nevada expect to give an updated ballot count tomorrow at 1 pm ET (6 pm GMT) after the 51,000 votes currently being counted are counted.

The count is not expected to be fully completed until Nov. 12, voter registrar Joe Gloria said.

But he added that he was hopeful that “most” of the rest would be prosecuted Sunday.

Gloria said she was concerned for the well-being of election staff amid protests that followed Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of fraud, but vowed the count would continue.

Pennsylvania’s outcome can be revealed tonight.

Pennyslvania’s secretary of state has said that we might know who won the fundamental state later today.

Kathy Boockvar told CNN that there were about 550,000 ballots left to count, but that the process, which was expected to conclude tomorrow, is progressing “ahead of schedule.”

She added that she was “sure” that the “overwhelming majority” would be counted today.

Voting was briefly stopped earlier today due to demand from the Trump campaign, but has since resumed.

Trump falsely claims he has won the election ‘easily’ with ‘legal votes’

With nearly half of his tweets since the election having been flagged as misleading by Twitter, Donald Trump’s campaign has apparently begun publishing them in statements emailed to journalists.

His most recent letter in capital letters falsely states that “if the legal votes are counted, I easily win the election.”

To be clear, there is no evidence of significant voter fraud in the elections and there is no indication that the votes that have Joe Biden as their current advantage are anything but legal.

Trump could be kicked off Twitter after leaving office

Donald Trump could be removed from Twitter after he leaves office if he continues to break the platform’s rules, based on Twitter’s policy on public figures, Anthony Cuthbertson reports.

The US president’s account was flagged on seven different occasions on Wednesday and Thursday for posting misinformation and misleading claims about the election.

Several prominent Democrats called for Twitter to suspend Trump’s account until all states finish counting votes, however the platform’s public interest guidelines prevent it from being suspended or removed while he is in office.

Biden’s campaign expects ‘considerable’ win in Pennsylvania

Joe Biden’s campaign manager has told reporters that Democrats hope to win in the key state of Pennsylvania by a “considerable” margin.

Donald Trump is still ahead in the state, but his lead has shrunk rapidly during the mail ballot counting.

In a conference call with reporters, campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said “today’s story will be a very positive story” for her campaign, but “we have to allow it to be done and done well.”

The legal challenges of the Trump campaign seeking to stop the counting of votes in some states and seeking a recount in Wisconsin are a “hectic strategy” that is an “attempt to distract and delay” the election results, he added.

Biden Expands Leadership in Nevada

Joe Biden has expanded his leadership in Nevada to more than 12,000 votes, new figures show.

The state is worth six electoral college votes, so a Biden victory combined with a confirmed victory in Arizona would propel him to the White House.
