- The Europa League draw took place on Monday morning and with the Round of 32 in place, the title odds have changed.
- English clubs Tottenham and Manchester United have the best odds of winning the Europa League, while AC Milan and Arsenal are other favorites.
- Currently, Tottenham’s money line to win the Europa League is +500
The Europa League round of 32 are ready, and José Mourinho’s Tottenham is the small favorite to lift the European silver medal. They are set to play Wolfsberger in their first knockout round, while London club Arsenal face Benfica, who have the 11 best odds. Moving to the north of England, after falling out of the Champions League, Manchester United have the second best odds in the competition as they play La Liga leaders Real Sociedad.
With the knockout rounds of the Europa League, big surprises always come. The top Europa League favorites are practically thrown out the window when they are joined by the eight Champions League clubs that finished third in their respective group. With teams like Manchester United, Ajax and Salzburg reaching the European second division, the competition is far from over. Plus, all of the current league leaders in Europe’s five power leagues are still in the Europa League, which means a great series of knockout rounds awaits us.

Manchester United don’t have the depth to compete in Europe
Despite already having the second best odds of winning the Europa League, Manchester United are far from lifting the silver medal this season. His Premier League form has been mediocre and we all witnessed his abysmal Champions League downfall with two consecutive defeats to Paris and RB Leipzig. Despite a valuable draw against Manchester City last weekend,
Ole’s driving doesn’t seem like a long-term fit for Manchester United. With Paul Pogba also wanting to leave the club, his depth keeps dropping. Unfortunately, it will take a new manager or a lot of January purchases from the Glazers to give Manchester United a real shot at this competition.
Also, there are a couple of dark horses to win the Europa League. Currently, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Sociedad are all leaders in their national leagues after approximately ten games. They face Red Star, Young Boys and Manchester United respectively in the first knockout round with good chances of advancing. Of these three, Bayer Leverkusen should probably have the best odds of winning the competition.
Leverkusen reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season, losing to eventual runners-up Inter Milan. They have adapted very well this season, despite losing their golden midfielder Kai Havertz to Chelsea, with the help of Alario and Bailey at the top.

The Tottenham Hotspur case
At the top of the Europa League odds table is Tottenham Hotspur. A team that has been left alone in its search for trophies for what seems like decades. Now, with José Mourinho and Harry Kane moving at full speed, they are at the top of England’s first division. Their defense is more organized and the offense looks as clinical as ever with Heung-Min Son firing up this season with ten goals and four assists.

Tottenham have the luxury of playing Wolfsberger in the Europa League round of 32, a team they will easily pass to. In recent times, Tottenham have been seen as the strangler. However, José is transforming that wardrobe into a team of pure fighters. Personally, I think Liverpool will surpass them in the Premier League from the start, forcing José to put Tottenham’s focus on the Europa League, a competition he has won twice with Manchester United and Porto.
Best bet
Overall my best bet has to be Tottenham Hotspur. All the other teams are missing a piece or two or it looks like they will go through drastic changes soon. Tottenham is the safest choice and at the same time offers great future value.
My pick: Tottenham (+500)
