Updated Twitter for Mac with macOS Big Sur optimizations, M1 chip support

Twitter has released a notable update for its Mac app this week, bringing optimizations for macOS 11 Big Sur, in terms of performance and design. The update also adds support for Macs powered by Apple Silicon.

If you tried using Twitter for Mac while running the macOS 11 Big Sur beta, you know that it was buggy and unreliable. However, with this week’s update, Twitter for Mac is now in much better shape running macOS Big Sur.

The Twitter for Mac layout has also been updated to match the new lighter and more translucent layout language in macOS 11 Big Sur. This also includes a new square-shaped icon for the dock.

Finally, Twitter for Mac is now optimized for Apple Silicon. This means that it will run natively, without Rosetta 2 translation, on early Mac M1s. The first orders for the M1 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini are slated to hit customers next week, so it’s notable to see Twitter updating its Mac app in a timely manner.
