Updated PlayStation iOS and Android app to adopt PS5

(Pocket-lint) – With the launch of the PlayStation 5 just a few weeks away and gamers around the world gearing up for their first next-gen gaming experience, Sony has given its smartphone companion app a good helping hand. of new paint.

The app has been updated quite significantly with an entirely new design and functionality, providing a user experience that should more closely follow how you will feel using the PS5.

A big change is incorporating the PS Store into the app natively, allowing you to browse games, buy them, and configure them for download to your console, all from a single interface.

Messaging is built in too, along with the voice chat option, which is perfect if you don’t have easy access to a headset that works with your console.

The new home screen lets you check your activity and trophies for recently played games, with tabs at the bottom giving you access to the news, the PS Store, your game library, and a search function. Meanwhile, a drop-down menu at the top of the screen provides constant access to your messages and parties.

Sony also says that when you get a PS5, you’ll be able to launch games remotely from the app, as well as use it to manage storage on your console and log into the console quickly when you first set it up, all of which sounds useful.

The update is rolling out now, so it should be available through your app store and is available for both Android and iOS.
