Google Play Store on Android and the web are seeing a partial outage tonight. Some key parts, like the home page, are down for some users tonight, although they can still download apps.
To update: Around 7:15 p.m., the Play Store issues seem to be fixed.
Reports of the Google Play Store partial outage started at 4 p.m. and collected in frequency around 6 p.m. PT. For some on Android, the home screen tabs for Games, Apps, Movies & TV, and Books are returning server error messages. Users cannot see the content recommendation and suggestion carousels.
Another common problem affects the “My apps and games” section. Some users cannot see the available “Updates” or “Library” of what was previously purchased and installed. Application recommendations are also affected.
Google Play on the web faces a related issue where the content of the home page will not load. In the team, we see problems in the USA. USA And France, while Down Detector reports a similar increase in incidents.
Despite the issues, there are currently no reports of affected app downloads. Content purchases are also possible.
One solution that seems to work is to tap the “Retry” button, while closing the Android app completely is also a remedy. This interruption in Google Play Store is quite inconsistent and there is no general flaw. You may encounter a problem with a part of the app and see that it is resolved a moment later, only for another component to break.
