United States Mission to the African Union

Ambassador Lapenn addressed an amazing group of young African students at the opening ceremony of the African Union Model Conference of the African Leadership Academy (ALAMAU). ALAMAU is an annual conference for young leaders from Africa and around the world, simulating the activities of the AU. ALAMAU was established in 2013 as a platform for young leaders to develop viable solutions to African development challenges through diplomacy and international cooperation, in a format inspired by the Model UN. Amb. Lapenn’s remarks focused on the importance of pan-Africanism and the enormous role that young people will play in shaping the future of Africa.
