“The images that appeared in the opening video sequence of Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad with a raised fist were insensitive and damaging both in their inclusion and in the way it was depicted,” Ubisoft said.

“We have listened and appreciated the players and the community at large who have brought this up and we apologize.

“Raised fist images will be removed in the next title update this Tuesday, September 1 on Android and as soon as possible on iOS.”

The backlash comes amid ongoing protests around police brutality and racism on the streets of the United States following the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.
