Since the official reveal of the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the information has been coming. Most come from content creators who were able to play the alpha version of the game before. For example, YouTuber XclusiveAce was able to test the game’s timeout and reported this information to the community. However, some of the multiplayer details come from developer Treyarch. One developer even revealed how the controversial Flinch mechanic will work in Black Ops Cold War.
Flinch’s mechanic in Black Ops Cold War
As Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Flinch has been one of the series’ most controversial features. Essentially, this mechanic is how much your gun fires each time you point down and get shot. If you have played Call of Duty In the past, you will know that most games include some pretty big Flinch.
While it was mostly accepted, fans still didn’t enjoy the mechanics. It was extremely difficult to reposition his weapon while doing ADS and shooting at the same time. In turn, this made it much more difficult to get kills in heavier shootouts.
However, in Black Ops Cold War, this mechanic will be largely just for show. Developer Treyarch Tony Flame revealed some great news regarding Flinch in BOCW.
Damage Flinch has been redesigned in Black Ops Cold War. Flinch is now primarily a feedback mechanism to help you understand that you are taking damage, without affecting your weapon’s aiming position. Your weapon will move with your screen to stay on target. No more headshots

According to Flame, Flinch will only be in the game to provide feedback when you’re taking damage. If you played Black ops 2, this is essentially what the Hardness advantage did. However, now Toughness is integrated into the game, and most fans love this change.
Whether this is a good change or not remains to be seen. Although, with the open beta launching on October 8, Treyarch will be able to take data and make any necessary adjustments to Flinch if necessary.
