Trabzon airfield in Call of Duty? Sony and Activision surprise Turkish fans during PS5 event

Just over a week ago, I tuned in to watch the latest event that would showcase what the PlayStation 5, Sony’s next-gen console, will bring to our televisions and gaming monitors.

As the next-gen console launch approached, expectations were high and we were all excited about what the newer console architecture would make possible.

Let’s first take a look at how Activision’s upcoming triple-A game surprised Turkish fans, in a very positive way.

Right in the middle of the live stream, Dan Vondrak, the creative director at Raven Software, the company behind the newest Call of Duty game, took the stage and began talking about what the new technology will offer gamers.

“One of our goals as game developers is to bring games to a world unlike anything you’ve ever experienced,” he said. “And PlayStation 5 allows you to do just that.”

The excitement increased even more with these comments. And a couple of moments later, we saw a very unexpected and interesting title on the screen: “Trabzon Aerodrome, Turkey.” I couldn’t help but smile at that moment, like any other Turk would.

According to Vondrak, his most recent game, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, will take us back a few decades and allow us to experience Iran’s hostage crisis, which saw Americans held hostage in the midst of the embassy revolution in Tehran. and lasted 444 days. to end. I was unable to draw any parallels between what the northern Turkish province of Trabzon and the Iran hostage crisis had in common, other than the fact that the relatively small city is home to only a few diplomatic missions, many of them only honorary consulates, while Iran has a full-fledged consulate general there. The city is reportedly highly regarded by the Iranian authorities as it is a crucial port facilitating Iranian trade on the Black Sea.

But all that speculation aside, the game, which will be distributed by Activision, looks fantastic, to say the least.

It seemed to use the full power of next-gen hardware, despite the fact that consoles mature with age and improve by the day. Also, early games generally seem state-of-the-art on newer consoles. But it seems that the newest Call of Duty differs.

The combat looks fantastic, the ray tracing gets its due, and the overall graphics look impressive in-game.

I know, a new edition of Call of Duty comes out every year, but I’ll do my best to get a copy when it launches as it excites my Turkish character and my inherent interest in anything in popular culture that is remotely derived from or inspired by my culture, country or people.

A new god of war

Just two years after the PlayStation 4 masterpiece, the God of War reboot, we tried a new one: Ragnarok.

It was just a 10-second teaser, showing nothing but the game’s famous icon and the voice of main protagonist Kratos, but it was enough to get any God of War fan excited.

As they showed in the teaser, the game will be called Ragnarok and will be out in 2021. The wait is tough, especially when we have to wait for the potentially most sophisticated and realistic masterpiece to be released for the PS5. I’m pretty sure the next God of War will shake us all up like it did just two years ago.

A Harry Potter game, no HP

Sony also showed off a new Harry Potter game, which is called Hogwarts Legacy, but it will not feature Harry himself. The game takes place in the 800s, long before Harry’s parents were alive.

The game is rumored to be an open-world role-playing game (RPG) and will allow us to create our own characters to go on a magical cruise, explore and experience the rich universe created by JK Rowling. However, she will not be behind the story.

“JK Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game, yet her extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all projects in the Wizarding World. This is not a new JK Rowling story, “said Warner Bros. Games, the creators of Hogwarts Legacy.

PS Plus Collection

Another thing that caught my attention at the event was Sony’s new PlayStation Plus collection.

This is expected to be a benefit for PlayStation Plus subscribers, who will be able to play the best-selling PS4 masterpieces, including the Uncharted series, the 2018 God of War reboot, The Last of Us: Remastered and many more, in the next. -Ps5 generation.

When you subscribe to PS Plus on your shiny, newly purchased PS5, you’ll be able to access a vast library of PS4 classics for free. That may not be Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, but still, it’s a nice development.

In fact, the PS4 had some serious beauties on its own, and it will be a pleasure to experience them on the next-gen hardware. Hopefully with at least some scaling that will take advantage of the new architecture and reduced load times thanks to the hyperfast NVMe SSD the PS5 will have.

The hype is real, and I’m proud to be excited for such a beautiful console and the opportunities it will bring. Let’s wait and see.
