For some fervent supporters of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), the fact that the TPLF lost the war in a span of three weeks, a war they thought they would win without it, was not convincing enough for them to the TPLF is a thing of the past.

The hope was that the leaders would reorganize and perform a miracle to defeat the Ethiopian Defense Forces, whom the TPLF attacked on November 4, which turned out to be a trigger for war.

The reality on the ground does not appear to be like this.

The Ethiopian Defense Forces revealed in the past two days that two key members of the TPLF leadership were killed while trying to escape.

And several others are caught, including Sebhat Nega, who was one of the founders and key ideologues of the TPLF. He wielded great power for so long within the TPLF that it allowed him to do whatever he wanted, including building a business empire of his own.

Sebhat Nega, who is said to be 86 years old, was captured in a mountain hideout in the Tekeze desert on Friday, according to a statement from the Ethiopian Defense Forces.

The news of his capture has been a trend on Facebook and Twitter among Ethiopians.

Meanwhile, emerging news on social media indicates that the hideout of Seyoum Mesfin, who served as Ethiopia’s foreign minister for roughly two decades, has been identified. It is said that he is hiding in a mountainous area about 18 kilometers from Mekelle, and that his guards exchanged fire with the Ethiopian Defense Forces. However, the Ethiopian Defense Force has yet to confirm the news.
