It’s that time of year to make resolutions, write flashbacks, and get free stuff. Of course, the holiday shopping season is not over yet and game stores are still releasing free titles for people to get, regardless of whether or not they will be able to play them right away. While Steam’s holiday sale is still ongoing, Epic Games is wrapping up its own daily free offers, while GOG, formerly Good Old Games, is making a free title for a very limited time only.
Epic Games has been revealing a new free title every day for almost two weeks. The previous leak appears to have been spot on and now Torchlight II has been added to that list. It’s best to grab the Diablo-style four-player co-op action RPG before the sale ends, although the arrival of the game on the Epic Games store means that it will at least now be available for sale after that free period.
Like any other game store and distribution platform, GOG also has its own seasonal gifts to give away. Unfortunately, GOG makes you work a little harder for your free offer, as you’ll have to scroll down to the Giveaway section of their home page before you can claim Metro: Last Light Redux.
Yeah, it’s the remastered version of that once popular post-apocalyptic survival horror game that you get for that little effort. And because it is GOG, the copy you will get will be DRM free. However, unlike the free Torchlight II offer, you have a little over a day left to keep the game.
Of course, the free gifts are intended more as a starter for each store’s game collection, many of which may also be discounted at this time for a limited time. It could also be an opportunity for some collectors to fill out their lists at a low cost, even if they won’t be reproducing them exactly anytime soon.
