The World Ends With You will finally get a sequel next year

After its original release for the Nintendo DS in 2007, The World Ends With You received a second wind in 2018 thanks to its rebirth on the Nintendo Switch. It seems that the release of Switch rekindled enough interest in the series to warrant a sequel as well.

Square Enix today announced NEO: The World Ends With You, an official sequel to the original 2007 role-playing game. Like the original game, the sequel will take place in Shibuya, Tokyo:

Since this game takes place in Shibuya, it bears some resemblance to Persona 5, which also largely features the Shibuya district of Tokyo.

In NEO: The World Ends With You, players will take on the role of Rindo as you try to survive in Reapers’ Game. A new cast of characters will join you along the way. The game is expected to launch in the summer of 2021 for Nintendo Switch and PS4.

KitGuru Says: I intended to play The World Ends With You relaunch on Nintendo Switch. Did many of you play the original game or its release for Switch? Will you pick up the sequel on Switch or PS4?
