The PS4 is Backward Compatible – These are the PS4 games that run on PS5

  • The PS4 is a backward compatible system, which means that most of its games and a selection of other accessories can be played on the PS5.
  • However, not all applications are compatible with the PS5 and you may need some additional accessories or modifications to use the later version compatibility.
  • All PS4 games released from now on are guaranteed to be compatible with the PS5.

Suppose you own the Sony Playstation 4 and are thinking of upgrading to the next generation PlayStation console. In that case, there are several things to consider before deciding to deposit $ 500 for a PS5.

While the PS5 has faster charging speeds, 3D audio technology, a 4K UHD Blu-Ray drive, and more, one of its biggest features benefits PS4 console owners. Because the PS5 is largely backward compatible, this means that many elements of the PS4 experience are backward compatible as well.

Forward compatibility is when software from an older console can work on a newer console. In this case, many PS4 games are backward compatible, which means they can run on a PS5.

Here’s what you need to know about PS4 backward compatibility.

The PS4 is compatible with later versions

Almost all games released for PlayStation 4 will also run on PlayStation 5. All you will need to do is insert the disk or transfer the data using a USB storage drive or Wi-Fi transfer.

There are only eight PS4 games that hypocrisy transfer to PS5. Are:

  • “Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume One”
  • “We sang”
  • “Hitman Go: Definitive Edition”
  • “TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2”
  • “Just deal with it!”
  • “Shadwen”
  • “Robinson: The Journey”
  • “Joe’s Diner”

Sony has also claimed that all games released for PS4 from now on will be playable on PS5 as well.

If you have newer, big-budget titles like “Call of Duty: Warzone,” “Cyberpunk 2077,” or “Watch Dogs: Legion,” your games may also be eligible for a free next-gen update when you transfer them to your PS5. Ideally, these updates will offer better graphics and performance speed.

However, not all titles can be updated and not all updates are free. Multiple games can be updated, but you may have to pay for it. The game publishers, not Sony, determine the upgrade cost.

And while it’s great that there are some PS5 games that can be played on the PS4, you may want to be selective as to how many titles you bring to your PS5. Its limited storage capacity can fill up quickly and can quickly force you to invest in an external hard drive.
