Johannesburg (South Africa) December 5, 2020 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, the General Secretary of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Gali, participates in the thirteenth extraordinary session of the AU Heads of State and Government on the Area African Continental Free Trade (AfCFTA), started on Saturday, via virtual online platforms due to the conditions of social distancing caused by COVID-19.
The opening ceremony featured statements by the President of the African Union, President of South Africa, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, and the Secretary General of AfCFTA, Mr. Wamkele Mene.
The two-day virtual summit, the first of its kind, will deliberate on the adoption of the report by AfCFA leader and advocate, Niger President Issoufou Mahamadou.
During this extraordinary summit, the instruments for the beginning of the negotiation will be delivered by the Chairman of the AU Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, to the Member States and to the Secretary General of AfCFTA, Mr. Wamkele Mene. .
African leaders will discuss the adoption of the decision on the initiation of trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area and the adoption of the Johannesburg Declaration on the initiation of trade in the African Continental Free Trade Area.
African leaders will participate virtually tomorrow Sunday in the thirteenth extraordinary session on silencing weapons. (SPS)
