The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested a person here and seized 2.7 kg of buds (cured marijuana) hidden in an air compressor machine in Delhi.

The sender is based in the US and some previous seizures made by NCB had the same origin that alerted the NCB team.

The payment for the shipment was made through bitcoins and he contacted via the sender’s Instagram ID.

According to the NCB press release, the package was shipped to India from the US on August 31.

A detailed investigation of the case with the help of digital analysis led the NCB team to consignee C. Gidwani, a Lucknow resident, who agreed to participate in the case on September 18.

The necessary digital evidence was also seized. He admitted that he used to import these packages on a regular basis for the last year and a half for himself and to later distribute to his friends.

He used to order the drugs from the United States through Instagram or Wickr and the payments were made through bitcoins.

The defendant also revealed that he used to obtain ‘charas’ and ‘marijuana’ from suppliers based in Delhi and Bangalore. More research was being done on backward and forward linkages.
