Our eyes are on the most anticipated games of 2021 (at least when we’re not trying to figure out where to buy the PS5). We have just arrived at the beginning of a new generation of consoles, which is full of promise and potential. Many of these games seem to thrive by taking advantage of the powerful hardware of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The most interesting titles on our radar are sequels with a lot to prove, like God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon Zero West, and Resident Evil: Village, which seek to put some of our favorite characters in danger.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
When it comes to showcasing the true power of the new generation of consoles, we have one game in mind: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This title is one of the most anticipated PS5 games due to how its history will show the system performance. As seen in the game’s trailer, our heroes will jump from dimension through all kinds of worlds to stop Dr. Nefarious.
This wild game, where our heroes go on an interdimensional road trip, will showcase the PS5’s super-fast loading times as you just jump through the cracks with no problem. In this Ratchet & Clank game, a first since 2016, we’ll even see Ratchet discover that he’s not the last Lombax standing, thanks to alternate realities.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PS5 in 2021.
Hitman 3
Agent 47 will return and lead the charge in 2021. Currently due in January, Hitman 3 will take the efficient assassin to iconic locations like the spice market stalls of Marrakech and the rainforests of Colombia as we conclude the globetrotting trilogy “The World of Murder.” To end it all, Agent 47 is targeting the partners of Providence, the ancient secret society that is pulling the strings of the puppets behind the scenes during the story so far.
And don’t expect to get stuck staring at Agent 47’s cue ball dome. Hitman 3 will be available in virtual reality, along with the first two chapters of the trilogy. Yes, you too can walk around in the elegant suits of Agent 47.
Hitman 3 is coming January 20 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
Far Cry 6
When it comes to cinematic games, Far Cry 6 seems like a must-play game. Beloved actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) is the star of the game, playing the evil dictator Anton Castillo, who rules Yara, “a tropical paradise frozen in time.” His son Diego will follow in his footsteps, but along the way, they will have to deal with a local uprising.
That’s where you come in, as the guerrilla Yaran Dani Rojas, a member of the fight to bring down the Castles. Game settings will include Esperanza, the capital of Yara, as well as jungles and beaches.
Far Cry 6 is coming February 18 to PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and Amazon Luna.
West horizon forbidden
One of the most anticipated games of the first full year of the PS5, West horizon forbidden see Aloy (the protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn) continue to explore the remains of Earth, which is full of dangerous machines that she will have to take down. As the name suggests, Horizon Forbidden West will take Aloy to famous San Francisco landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Ferry Building, and the Transamerica Pyramid.
We hope that the bow and arrow mechanics in Horizon Forbidden West take full advantage of the DualSense controller feedback and tricks. Mathijs De Jonge, the game director, hyped the title a bit, saying that we should expect a game much bigger than HZD, and one that will take full advantage of the PS5’s ultra-fast SSD.
Horizon Forbidden West is coming to PS4 and PS5 in 2021.
Prince of Persia remake of Sands of Time
The Prince is back! Ubisoft announced that it would give Prince of Persia: Sands of Time a rebirth fit for a … prince. Take a look at how the game’s 2003 graphics have fared, and how they have been replaced by a sleek modern-gen look:
Originally scheduled to arrive in January 2021, the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake was delayed for two months. Hopefully, this delay means we have a finished game with no errors. There is no real reason why this should be a Cyberpunk 2077 level catastrophe.
The remake of Prince of Persia Sands of Time will arrive in March on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in March 2021.
Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village has everything. As seen in a spooky new trailer, this new chapter in the survival horror franchise takes place in a haunting goth town that is beset by vampires, werewolves, familiar faces, and a whole new side of series hero Chris Redfield.
Resident Evil: Village will also see more continuity in the series. Ethan Winters and his wife Mia survived the horrors of RE: 7 only to end up in this terrifying new township. And it looks like they’ll have to stop Chris Redfield, who’s gotten a bit evil.
Resident Evil Village is coming in 2021 to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 has high expectations of its proverbial chassis. Not only will it seek to showcase the power of the PS5, something this series has historically done on Sony consoles, but the game will also attempt to thread the needle between the traditional aspects that made the series what it is and the multiplayer / esports content. to grow the audience.
After Polyphony pretty much rewrote the book with GT Sport, Gran Turismo 7 seems to be less controversial. Expect a full single-player campaign, as well as the return of fan-favorite tracks like Trial Mountain, and even a track that looks like El Capitan.
Gran Turismo 7 is coming in 2021 to the PS5.
Hogwarts legacy
Fans of the Harry Potter books and movies can finally enroll themselves in magic school. The rumored Hogwarts legacy is an upcoming RPG that puts you under the Sorting Hat to find out which house you belong to.
There, you will learn spells, make potions, deal with magical beasts and even find yourself in some drama with other students, as the trailer revealed that there is a masked boy (or a group of them) causing trouble. Oh, and don’t expect Mr. Potter to be around, the game takes place long before Harry arrives.
Hogwarts Legacy arrives in 2021 and will arrive on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
God of War: Ragnarok
Details are scant, but we do know that Kratos will return to the PS5 (and perhaps the PS4) in 2021. God of War: Ragnarok, the successor to the 2018 hit game God of War, was revealed at a PlayStation 5 showcase event and is one of the most anticipated games of 2021.
But since all we have is a very slim teaser, it’s time to play detective. The trailer notes that “Ragnarök is yet to come”, and while it may only refer to the game’s title, it could also be a much scarier omen. Ragnarök is the end of the days of Norse mythology, which would be a powerful setting for Krators and Atreus’s next adventure. As the end of God of War hinted, Thor is coming for Kratos, so get ready to fight the lightning hard.
God of War: Ragnarok is coming to PlayStation 5 in 2021 (and possibly PS4, not confirmed).
Psychonauts 2
The good folks at Double Fine are back with a sequel to the beloved Psychonauts and, like many games on this list, it will emerge in 2021 after a series of delays. Originally scheduled for 2020, this beautiful return to form from Tim Schaefer & co. now brings its wonder a bit later than expected so we’ll (hopefully) get a smoother launch.
We don’t know of many spoilers about the game, but we do know that Jack Black voices the mysterious Mote of Light and will (naturally) sing in the game as well.
Psychonauts 2 It will arrive in 2021 to PX, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PS4.
Persona 5 Strikers
The Phantom Thieves are back, but this time Joker and the gang are moving away from the RPG format and embarking on a hack and slash adventure. From Omega Force (the people behind similar games like the Dynasty Warriors series) comes Persona 5 Strikers, in which the cast of P5 reunites to stop another possible calamity.
Returning characters include Joker, Morgana, Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, Futaba, and Haru, and the game does not reflect the story of Persona 5 Royal. The warning of a possible catastrophe comes from the returning character Lavenza, prompting Joker, Ryuji, and Morgana to seek the help of a personal assistant named EMMA. Along the way, they run into a hugely popular pop star named Alice Hiiragi, and it seems to be an excellent continuation of the Persona 5 story, making it one of the most anticipated games of 2021 for JRPG fans.
Persona 5 Strikers is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC on February 23.
Deathloop
What if you only had one job and couldn’t do it, no matter how many times you’ve tried? What if that job was to kill one of your fellow assassins? That is the problem that plagues Colt and Juliana, who are caught together in this murderous cycle. And, wouldn’t you know? One of them doesn’t want to leave.
Yes, for some reason Juliana really wants to keep this “deadly bond” while Colt wants to break free. Developer Arkane (Dishonored) seeks to give you a lot of freedom, even though the game focuses on one mission and only one mission: kill or be killed.
Deathloop is coming to PS5 on May 20.
Knights of gotham
We will return to Arkham, but without Batman in tow. Knights of gotham sees Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin forced to defend their territory without the Caped Crusader, who has apparently been killed (we’ll believe it when we see it).
And, unfortunately for our heroes, they have a big challenge: The Court of Owls, an iconic set of baddies from recent Batman comics, must be stopped. On the bright side, up to two players can team up to protect Gotham in online cooperative mode.
Gotham Knights is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
Scheduled for a vague window of “2021”, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a stealth game that puts you behind the nervous hands and feet of the corrupt Hobbit. And of course, since Gollum doesn’t have the weaponry or strength of the other LOTR characters, navigating Mordor without attracting the attention of dangerous orcs, ringwraiths, and other powerful foes depends on your ability to stay hidden.
The other weapon in Gollum’s arsenal is his wits, as dialogue decisions will determine your way through the game, featuring forks in the way. The game’s trailer doesn’t reveal much, but it builds up in the atmosphere, as if fans don’t know what to expect from the former Sméagol’s first video game.
Gollum will arrive in 2021 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox One.
