Motorola likes product diversity, releasing more mid-range smartphone models in recent months than this writer can count on his fingers and toes while also raising the folding bar and doing your long awaited return to conventional high-end.
The company’s newest reasonably priced phone joins the already extensive Moto G family, vastly improving the specs of the recently unveiled G9. Like his little brother who quietly broke up in India before Expanding to the old continent under a different name, the G9 Plus is seeing the light of day in a single market with minimal fanfare before an undoubtedly wider launch.
Four cameras, a small hole, two beautiful colors.
Motorola has been switching between notches and punching designs for Moto G series devices for the last year or so, settling on the latter route as far as the 6.8-inch G9 Plus is concerned. That makes this more similar to the likes of G power G Stylus and G8 “standard” than the G8 Plus or G9, with generally reasonably thin screen edges and a small hole located in the upper left corner to house a single 16MP selfie equipped with f / 2.0 aperture.
On the back, the Moto G9 Plus features a surprisingly elaborate camera setup for a budget average ranger, comprised of a 64MP primary snapper with f / 1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro shooter, and 2MP depth sensor, as well as a large tablet-shaped LED flash.
It goes without saying that this camera system is more complex and versatile (on paper at least) than the Moto G8 Plus and G9 go in their favor, although the former of these two models actually comes with a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens with more impressive sound.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned 6.8-inch screen is unsurprisingly equipped with FHD + resolution, which produces a lower pixel density than the 6.3-inch G8 Plus of 2019. The Moto G9 Plus is obviously much taller and wider than its predecessor, at 170 and 78.1mm respectively, as well as thicker and heavier for a reason that will be obvious in the next section.
Available in striking rose gold and indigo blue paint jobs, the G9 Plus is presumably made entirely of plastic, just like the G8 Plus and G9.
Huge battery, blazing fast charging, respectable processing power
As you can easily guess from its 9.7mm profile and 223 grams weight, this bad boy has a gigantic battery. That is, the exact same 5,000 mAh cell as last year’s G9 and G Power. The difference is that the Moto G9 Plus supports 30W TurboPower charging technology, compared to 20 and 10W on the two aforementioned devices, respectively. Believe it or not, that even surpasses the 25W fast charging capabilities of Samsung’s cutting edge technology. Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, which also features a smaller 4,500 mAh battery.
Of course, the two cannot be compared when it comes to raw power, as the Moto G9 Plus packs a Snapdragon 730 chipset with no 5G support. Still, this should provide a nice upgrade to the Snapdragon 665 SoC inside the G8 Plus.
The Silicon 730 is paired with a 4GB RAM count and 128GB of internal storage space in the single configuration currently available in Brazil, but if that $ 420 price tag feels steep, you should be aware that this is not how. conversion rates usually work on mobile. industry. the Moto G8 Power, for example, is normally priced at $ 340 or so in Brazil, while it only reaches $ 250 in the United States under the simplified name of G Power.
In other words, the G9 Plus is sure to cost a lot less than $ 400 in the US … if it ever lands in these parts. At $ 300 or so, this thing could definitely catch up, with a headphone jack and side-mount fingerprint scanner to round out its very solid spec sheet.
