Android 11 is now officially available for the first wave of devices, which includes the Google Pixel series and phones from a few other brands, but unfortunately, some of those who install the new operating system run into various issues that break down important features of the apps that most use.
One of them is Google Maps, which has apparently lost support for uploading photos.
What this means is that local Google Maps guides are no longer able to upload images to the service, regardless of their location, as the only thing they got when trying to find images on their devices is a “No gallery app available” error. .
It seems that the problem appeared after the update to Android 11, so the problem mainly occurs on Google Pixel phones that already have the latest version of the operating system.
“After the update, I could no longer add photos that I had taken with the system camera to Google Maps. The only photos allowed were those taken on Google Maps. When I tried to press the ‘Folders’ button, ‘No gallery app available’ was displayed. When I press the camera button, the camera opens. Pushing the 3 dots in the lower right corner to open the system camera will result in the error [..] There is no camera app available.”Explains a user in the Google forums.
While Google has yet to acknowledge the problem and provide a solution, someone on the forums has discovered a solution.
What you need to do is turn to a different image viewer and use the share feature to upload photos to Google Maps. In their case, the app that worked with this method was Quick Pick, and after selecting the photos and hitting the share option, they could simply pick Google Maps and pick a correct location.
At this point, it seems that the problem is also experienced in the latest version of Google Maps for Android.
