The Google Assistant now allows users to schedule lights and other devices to turn on and off at specific times with its “scheduled actions” feature, according to Android Police, which cites the Google Assistant developer documentation.
The Google Assistant has worked with Hue and other smart lights for some time, to turn them on, off, and set alarms, but now you can tell your Assistant exactly when you want to turn on the lights and other devices in a smart home.
One word of caution: you need to be very specific if you want to program your lights (or other devices) to turn on or off one day in the future. It’s not enough to say something like “Ok Google, turn on the lights tomorrow at 8pm.” You should say, “Ok Google, turn on the lights on Tuesday at 8pm.”
However, as Android Police Note that you can specify “sunrise” and “sunset” as times to set the lights to turn on (or off) and you do not need to specify the exact time. You can also use the Google Assistant to schedule a period of time to keep the lights on, such as “turn the lights on for 10 minutes.”
However, the feature is apparently still a work in progress; In addition to the “tomorrow” quirk, Reddit users and Android Police note that the function to cancel a scheduled action does not seem to work. But according to the Google Assistant smart home documentation, it looks like these features will likely be working soon.
