Last week, 2020 took another turn for the worse, with Apple’s launch of the AirPods Max, a $ 549 set of headphones. Sure sounds good: CNET’s own audio expert David Carnoy was impressed by its sound quality and noise cancellation. But they are priced well above their value, at least in my humble opinion, and any number of alternative headphones will serve you just as well for a lot less money. And that’s what’s on the agenda for this week’s episode: why you should avoid spending your kid’s college fund on a pair of AirPods Max.
Thats not all. We believe in giving you your money’s worth on this free podcast, which is why we also have one last set of last minute holiday gifts. These are a bit silly so please let us know what you think about them.
Plus a public service announcement: As we mentioned last week, we’re taking the last two weeks of December off, so enjoy your vacation. Stay safe, healthy and affordable. And listen to our comeback on Season 2 of the Cheapskate Show on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
