The biggest problem for Real Madrid is not Zidane. It’s the wounds!

Real Madrid suffered embarrassing defeats to both Cádiz and Shakhtar Donetsk this week, and now travel to Barcelona for the Clásico with a squad plagued with injuries. Uh oh.

I hope they haven’t forgotten that Eden Hazard is a Real Madrid player. Yes, the man who took the number seven and was listed as the next ‘Galactic’ in Spain has already doubled the number of games he has lost through injury in just over a season with Real Madrid than during several successful years with Chelsea.

Hazard has not played since Manchester City removed Real Madrid from the Champions League in August and the Whites are struggling to find a reliable scorer.

Apart from Vinicius Junior, no one has been able to carry the load and produce regularly. It certainly doesn’t help having to constantly worry about Marcelo playing left back and Ferland Mendy playing with his weak foot on the right.

Losing Hazard to injury before competitive play began is one thing, but losing stalwart Dani Carvajal plus his replacement, Álvaro Odriozola, hasn’t done manager Zinedine Zidane any favors early in this bizarre 2020/2021 campaign.

So while the results leading up to this Classic have been the worst since Zidane’s return as coach, those fans on Twitter calling for the coach’s removal are delusional! Considering Hazard, Carvajal, Odriozola and young Martin Odegaard are on the mend, and Eder Militao just got the go-ahead to debut for the season on Wednesday, I’d say Real Madrid are fine with what they have available.

Karim Benzema and Luka Jovic are not scoring goals as we would like, nor are they creating chances regularly, but the lack of new signings and an early attack of the ‘injury virus’ are substantially hampering the team’s ability.

Also, it is important to note here that most of these first team players have been playing internationally and there has been little to no downtime for them.

Everyone who hates Zizou can shut up. If there is any coach in world football who solves things and brings out the best in his players, it is Zinedine Zidane. Every team and coach goes through a losing streak, and sometimes that losing streak is impossible to control.

That is what we have here. Keep the faith and the results will come. Trust me.
