Tapatalk was an incredibly popular Android app in years past, providing an easy way to access thousands of web forums through a single app, in an era when many websites had limited mobile layouts. The app still maintains a loyal (albeit smaller) following to this day, although the Android version has now been removed by the Google Play Store.

Tapatalk appears to have disappeared from the Play Store at some point earlier this week, and users of the app started noticing its absence on Thursday. While the app is still functional for anyone who downloads it, VIP subscriptions are now unavailable as they relied on in-app billing from Google Play.

Tapatalk’s social media channels have been kept quiet as Twitter account has not posted since April and the company’s Facebook page has been inactive for over a year. However, an administrator from Tapatalk’s own forums confirmed that Google removed the app. “We are working with Google Play to find out what the problem is,” the admin wrote, “please stay tuned for updates.”

The exact reason for removing the app is unclear at this time, but Google has removed Many apps lately for completely idiotic reasons. Podcast Addict was briefly removed in May because it could be used to play podcasts about COVID-19, Slide for Reddit was removed because a single screenshot had the word “ISIS” and Tasker was unavailable for a short time due to a bug in the Google’s automated review process.

Meanwhile, you can still download Tapatalk on APKMirror.
