Last week, Microsoft announced its new affordable tablet, the Surface Go 2.
At its best, it features an updated 8th generation Core m3 processor that promises much better performance.
Now the first results of the benchmarking of the tablet have appeared on Geekbench, proving that Microsoft has delivered on the promise.
The Geeekbench 4 benchmarks show that the 1.1Ghz Intel Core m3-8100Y Intel Core m3-8100Y CPU achieves 3989 in the single-core test and 6773 in the multi-core test, compared to 2020 in a single-core score. Single core and 4004 multi core for Intel 1.6Ghz Pentium 4415Y CPU Surface Go.
This is likely because the Intel Core m3-8100Y CPU can go up from 1.1Ghz to 3.4Ghz as needed, while the 1.6Ghz Intel Pentium 4415Y CPU runs at a fixed frequency.
For single-core performance, the Surface Go 2’s 3989 score is significantly faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Surface Pro X’s single-core 3417 score, though that device’s 10,966 multi-score score is much better than the score. 6773 for the Surface Go2.
The Surface Go 2 comes in the same slim and lightweight design as its predecessor, but now it comes with a slightly larger 10.5-inch PixelSense display with 220 ppi. Thanks to 8th Generating the Intel Core M processor, Microsoft says the Surface Go 2 offers 64% faster performance compared to the original Surface Go. Surface Go 2 also comes with an improved battery life of up to 10 hours.
Surface Go 2 also comes with Studio Mics, Microsoft’s dual microphone solution, to enhance the voice experience during video meetings. The 5MP front camera offers a great video calling experience. Surface Go 2 accessories, including the type cover, will come in platinum, black, poppy red, and ice blue.
Surface Go 2 starts at $ 399 and will be available starting May 12. You can book it here today.
