Universal Studios Japan will celebrate the grand opening of Super Nintendo World on February 4, 2021 in Osaka, Japan. It will bring to life a highly themed and immersive land with legendary Nintendo worlds, characters and adventures where guests can play inside their favorite Nintendo games.
Super Nintendo World will feature Mario Kart and Yoshi themed rides and rides, as well as restaurants, shops, and other experiences that can only be found at Universal Studios Japan. The colorful and interactive area offers a new theme park experience that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world using a Power-up Band, an innovative technology that helps bring the game to life and allows visitors to keep score.
Universal Studios Japan will have a ride in the Mario Kart theme park, Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge, as well as Bowser’s Castle. The interior of the castle has an eerie atmosphere with stone walls, barbed fences and heavy iron gates along with a huge stone statue of Bowser in the center of a grand staircase. The powerful scale of the statue makes one feel as if Bowser is suddenly starting to move.
“At the heart of the castle is the first Mario Kart game in a theme park based on the Mario Kart game series, which has sold more than 150 million units. Universal Creative has partnered with Nintendo to bring a real-life racing adventure to Universal Studios Japan with Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge. Guests will put on their headphones that will take them through the Mario Kart universe to experience endless thrill and excitement, ”said Thomas Geraghty, Mario Kart Senior Director of Innovation and Global Executive Producer.
The interactive Mario Kart theme park ride at Super Nintendo World allows guests to race through the iconic Mario Kart circuits with their favorite Nintendo characters and be transported to Nintendo worlds where they are not just playing the game, but they are actually immersed in the game. They will head to the Mushroom Kingdom and launch projectiles as they race to the finish line with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach.
