Super Mario 3D All-Stars is already the second best-selling game of 2020 on the Amazon store in the US.

The Nintendo Switch title was announced last week, the flagship product in a series of new releases to mark the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.

The bundle includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, all reconfigured for the Switch hardware. Super Mario 3D All-Stars is also limited in time, and purchases are only possible until March 31, 2020.

As Nintendo Life highlighted, the combination of the iconic games in the pack and the limited supply has led to a flood of pre-orders.

In the US store of Amazon, the largest game retailer, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is only behind Animal Crossing: New Horizon in terms of unit sales this year, less than a week after its first announcement.

The two games immediately below Super Mario 3D All-Stars are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Last of Us Part 2.

Thanks to Nintendo Enthusiast analysis, we know that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold almost four million units worldwide between January 1 and June 30 of this year. Meanwhile, the Naughty Dog game sold four million copies on its launch weekend alone.

While those numbers are worldwide and across all storefronts, the fact that Super Mario 3D All-Stars is ahead of both in the largest showcase in the largest console game market is an early indicator of its likely performance.
