Sudan’s French coach Hubert Velud called in 25 players to face Ghana in the Group C double-game of the 2021 Africa Cup qualifiers this month.

The giants El Merrikh and Al Hilal dominated the swuad as usual, with 10 players coming from Merriekh, 6 from Hilal compared to 7 players from other national teams and 2 foreign players.

Saifeldin Malek, Ahmed Adam (Al Merrikh), Mouad Abderrehim (Khartoum Al Watani), Walaaedin Moussa (Hai Al wadi Niala), Musaab Kurdman (Ahly Shendy) and Ammar Taifour (Bastia, Italy) returned to the team.

Sudan started a preparatory camp in Khartoum on Friday (October 30, 2020) and will travel to Addis Ababa on November 4, where it will face Ethiopia in a friendly on November 6. They will leave for Accra the next day.

Velud, who took over as Sudan’s coach last February, will have his first competitive outing against Ghana, admitting the mission will be difficult.

“Now I know 95% of the team’s form after playing amicably against Tunisia, Chad and Togo last month,” Velud told CAFOnline.com. “We have a good group of players whose spirit will help us achieve the best results. The Ethiopia game will sharpen our preparation.”

Day 3 of the Group C match will take place in Cape Coast, Ghana on November 12, while day 4 of the match is scheduled at Hilal Stadium on November 17.

Ghana leads the group with 6 points, South Africa and Sudan follow with 3 points each, while São Tomé and Príncipe follow the group without meaning.
