(MENAFN) On Sunday, November 29, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, declared that $ 147 million is needed to help Ethiopian refugees in Sudan.

According to the agency on Friday, more than 43,000 Ethiopian refugees have fled here amid the ongoing conflict between the Ethiopian federal administration and a rebel regional regime in northern Tigray since November 4.

Grandi posted on Twitter on Sunday after visiting them in Sudan that the refugees “had almost nothing” when they arrived.

In order to meet the basic needs of refugees for six months, with special consideration for the most vulnerable, humanitarian organizations have demanded USD 147 million, he said.
