Street fighter v’s Winter Update detailed a new slew of content coming to the fighting game this year.
A surprise came from the confirmation of the new character Eleven joining Rose, Dan, Oros and Akira on the Season 5 roster.
This character, who mimics other fighters, comes as a bonus for players who purchase the Season 5 Pass and is not part of the original lineup, which means there is still a fighter to be confirmed for this season.
While the Twitch stream primarily featured the movements of the returning characters, Rose and Dan, as well as the stages that accompany them, Capcom also introduced a new ‘V-Shift’ mechanic.
Using a bar from your V-gauge, this defensive mechanic allows players to escape difficult situations with a time-slowing backdash, which is invincible on throws, and also allows you to counter with a ‘V-Shift Break’ attack .
Dan will be the first fighter to be released this season on February 22, which also comes with a new free alternate training stage.
The new season pass comes in two versions, the character pass or the premium pass. Both will include all of the new fighters coming to Season 5, as well as five battle costumes, but the latter will include even more costumes, two new stages, and 100,000 Fight Money to use with the purchase of in-game cosmetics.
That’s not all, as EDM star Steve Aoki also appeared as a guest on the broadcast to share his love for Street Fighter through three special collaborations from his record label and fashion label Dim Mak.
First, there is merchandise with a variety of Street Fighter-themed apparel, the full collection that can be found on Dim Mak’s website.
There is also a limited edition countertop arcade cabinet made in association with Arcade1Up. However, this is limited to just 30 units, which have naturally already been sold out.
However, the great gift is that Aoki has remixed the theme song of his favorite fighter, Ryu. Titled ‘Ryu’s Theme (The Moe’s Pizzeria Steve Aoki Remix),’ it is available to listen to starting February 19.
Coinciding with the game’s fifth anniversary, there is currently also a free trial of Street fighter v Until February 24. This free trial of Street Fighter V: Championship Edition includes the entire roster of characters from season 1-4.
