Zambia head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has revealed how he will manage without Red Bull Salzburg forward Patson Daka.
The forward was injured during the UEFA Champions League game against Atlético de Madrid, which lost 3-2 on 27 October. The injury is likely to rule Daka out of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Botswana in November.
“We have been talking to him [Daka] every day, especially after that injury, ”Micho is quoted by the Zambia Federation. Facebook page as saying.
“We have the feeling of a Zambian with a patriotic heart and soul and wishes that the team play well without him, as his soul and his medicine are focused on the road to recovery.
“The Zambians have no reason to expect me to cry over that unfortunate situation that happened to Daka, we should all give full support to Patson to recover as soon as possible and we should refocus on other available players who will wear the scoring boots. Zambia in the double header against Botswana. “
The former SC Villa manager stated that the number of goals scored during previous friendlies in which Daka did not participate suggests that there should be no reason to worry.
“Between October 7 and 25 we played five international friendlies and scored 10 goals,” he explained.
“That means we score two goals per game on average and this is what we were trying to achieve as Plan B in case Daka and other professional players were not available.”
