New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS): The Sony Playstation network has suffered a major disruption globally as PS4 and PS5 players were experiencing issues with various games.

Sony’s PSN status page reported Saturday that “you may have difficulty launching games, applications or network functions” on platforms such as the PS Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5.

“We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience,” reads the support page.

Engadget reported that the outage may be affecting some games like Call of Duty: Warzone or Minecraft, while other games like Fortnite appear to be accessible.

“It appears that PSN is experiencing an outage / issues. More details can be found at the following links. We are monitoring the issue for our part,” tweeted Klei, a Canadian-based video game studio.

The Sony PlayStation Network outage began after Microsoft’s Xbox Live service suffered a global outage for five hours last week.

“We are aware that users may not be able to log into Xbox Live at this time. Our teams are investigating to fix this issue,” Microsoft Xbox tweeted on Friday.

The problem was later resolved and Xbox gamers returned to their consoles.

Meanwhile, Sony PlayStation 5 stock will remain very limited until the second half of 2021 due to chip shortages, the outlet reported.

According to a report by the Financial Times, Sony has been struggling to maintain supply of the PS5 consoles.

Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment has also stated that PS5 supply will start to recover in the second half of this year.
