As a surprise final announcement during its PS5 presentation, Sony has revealed that a God of War the sequel is in the works.

Little else was revealed for the game outside of the “Ragnarök is Coming” tagline, which references the later sections of the first game. The game is directed by previous developer Santa Monica Studio and the trailer suggests that the sequel will follow the adventures of Kratos and his son, Atreus. No release date was revealed outside of the 2021 release window.

The sequel to God of War was one of many announcements during the PS5 showcase, the most notable being Final Fantasy XVI and Hogwarts legacy, a new game set in the Harry Potter universe.
Outside of the game’s announcements, the biggest reveal was that fans finally got the pre-order information for the standard and digital edition of the console. Pre-orders have begun to ship and the consoles will launch in select territories first before a global launch.
Numerous titles have been confirmed for release, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon souls, Sackboy: a great adventureand Destruction All Stars.
Despite reports of production problems, Sony has denied rumors that the PS5 faces manufacturing problems. The company originally increased the number of consoles being made due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, in an effort to capitalize on the fact that more people around the world are spending more time at home.
