Sony will host a special PlayStation 5 event next week. The company will air a 40-minute “digital showcase” on Wednesday, September 16 that will include updates from Sony game studios and third-party partners. Sony presents the event as “one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!)” Ahead of the console’s launch.
We will also likely get a release date and price for the PlayStation 5. Microsoft originally planned to announce its Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X launch plans and pricing next week, before the $ 299 price was leaked from the S Series. Sony opened pre-registration for PS5 pre-orders last month, but the company has yet to share a date for official pre-orders or pricing and release date information.
It seems increasingly likely that we will find out the price of the PS5 on Wednesday, especially since Microsoft is opening Xbox pre-orders on September 22. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X console is priced at $ 499, but Sony has two prices for its discless digital edition PS5 and the regular PS5. We could be about to witness some competitive next-gen pricing, especially considering Microsoft’s $ 299 Xbox Series S.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 event will take place on Wednesday at 4 pm ET / 1 pm PT. Watch out for The edge for the latest PS5 news on Wednesday.
