The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has denied foiling an Alshabab at its base outside the capital Mogadishu on Sunday.
Al-Shabab militants attacked the AMISOM base but encountered resistance in the vicinity of Elasha Biyaha in the Lower Shabelle region.
According to sources, the attack resulted in a fierce confrontation that lasted for almost thirty minutes.

Al-Shabaab fighters who want to overthrow the internationally recognized Somali government were expelled from the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Somali and African Union forces have carried out major offensives against extremists in the central and southern regions of Somalia, but militants still control swaths of territory in those regions, ambushing and planting roadside bombs.
Somali forces backed by AU troops have been conducting operations to remove Al-Shabab from the lower Shabelle region.
