Anonymous, 36 minutes agoWhy can’t they offer operating system updates for 5 years or more and let the user decide … moreIn fact, they can, but that will hurt your sales. Android makers have tons of variety of products to sell, low-medium-high-end. Developers also need to tweak and modify to make different chips / hardware work better, having to upgrade all those devices with 5 years of service would hurt them.
Apple only sells high-end products like 5 devices / year, plus they all always have the same chip! making them easier to work with.

FANBOY OF ALL BRANDS, 51 minutes agoNice improvement in the right direction. But, I think even less powerful than the 5 years sup … moreSecurity updates are more than enough for Android, as each new update sometimes ends up diluting the operating system to iOS levels.
IOS simply passes off old Android features as new innovations.

Nobody cares about the latest Android updates. IOS 5-year upgrade system is a giant screen … moreIos is the easiest to use, in fact it is the easiest operating system to use. But I prefer Android for the more options, functions and customization

This, of course, is up to the manufacturers, but for devices with the flagship SD888 it should come naturally. Probably easier for stock or near stock Android devices.

Why can’t they offer operating system updates for 5 years or more and let the user decide to install or not? If the phone can handle it, that is.

The iOS 5 year upgrade system is a giant scccam. You get the latest features with a delay of 5 years on average. Android is light years ahead of iOS in terms of functionality, customization, security, and ease of use. Android 5 years ago can do things that today’s iPhone can’t.
iOS 14 finally got a drawer of apps and widgets, Lol, these are things that existed on Android a decade ago.
Also, with each subsequent update, Apple deliberately slows down the battery and CPU (yes, they are paying fines for this negligence), so one is forced to update after a few years.

Yes finally. Android flagships should have at least 3-4 years of OS updates as it costs a lot now, even more than iPhones at times.

Nice improvement in the right direction. But, I think even less powerful than Apple Chips and IOS 5 years of support
