According to a statement sent yesterday by NISS to FBC, he was seized at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, being transported to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
An Ethiopian national who was caught trying to deliver the cocaine by hiding it in a laptop bag was arrested, along with three other suspects, it added.
In August, the Ethiopian authorities revealed that they had captured 80 people for alleged connection to drug trafficking activities in the Ethiopian fiscal year 2018-19, which ended on July 8.
According to the Anti-Narcotics Operation team of the Ethiopia Federal Police Commission, the 80 people, who are allegedly nationals of 17 countries, were arrested for alleged participation in drug trafficking activities during the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
Most of the 80 people were caught when they allegedly tried to smuggle drugs through Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport.
The seized drugs were being transported by a variety of foreign nationals, including Nigerians, Brazilians, Venezuelans and South Africans.
